BALLET BODIES CHOREOGRAPHIc WORKSHOPS

I had the opportunity to join Ballet Bodies in a choreographic capacity. This is a unique format proposed to offer myself and other choreographers the chance to experiment new work, ideas, phrases and vocabulary with trained dancers. For me, being able to work in this way opened my eyes to how I like to create movement and approach dancers who I have never worked with before.

Original Post: “Meet smooth mover Jared Herring! We are excited to have Jared as one of our Guest Choreographers for the upcoming Choreographic Workshops.
We welcomed all intermediate/advanced dancers to meet Jared and be part of his creative process. Don't miss out on this INCREDIBLE opportunity!”

BALLET BODIES

Ballet Bodies YYC offers a safe and welcoming space to intermediate/advanced adult ballet dancers that are committed to training regularly and showcasing ballet in a new light where passion, love and artistry are above traditional and unrealistic considerations such as age, gender, and body type.

Ballet Bodies YYC started as a dance program under Calgary Core Contemporaries and co-directed by Katharina Schier and Serenella Sol in August 2020. This project was born as a result of recognizing the need in Calgary for more adult ballet training and performing opportunities.

After running for a full year and regardless of a challenging pandemic year, Ballet Bodies YYC kept growing and attracting more adult ballet dancers. In December 2021, Ballet Bodies YYC turned into a non-profit society and Serenella Sol became the Artistic Director. Our goal is to create a collaborative, positive and inclusive space for intermediate/advanced ballet dancers regardless of age, gender, or physique.
